Introduce farm unit. Old McDonald Had a Garden! Begin a discussion about what types of food grows on a farm? List out the food students can think of. Sing: Old McDonald Had a Garden. Review fruit farms/orchards. Some fruit grows on trees and others grow on bushes. Fruit, normally fleshy, contains a large seed within, such as an avocado or peach seed, or numerous tiny seeds, such as a tomato or an orange. All produce that contains seeds are fruit. |

Thanksgiving
Feast!
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving? Briefly describe the history of the first Thanksgiving. Pilgrims traveled across the ocean to the New Land. They did not know how to plant and grow, so the Native Americans helped them learn how to grow food. During the Harvest, they had a big feast with each other as a way to say Thank You for all the help the Native American's gave them. |
