Did the Groundhog see his shadow? Look at Groundhog's Day predictions and compare predictions with actual results of Punxitauny Phil seeing or not seeing his shadow. Chant "5 Little Groundhogs" poem.
Can you see your shadow on a cloudy day? What happens on cloudy days to prevent you from seeing shadows? Why can you see your shadow on a sunny day?
Begin cloudy & sunny weather graph.
Introduce that we will be learning about families and friends. What is a family? Who is in your family? Counting 10 and 20 items pushing them away as you go.

Identify different family members: mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin. Emphasizing that all families are different. Matching sets to numerals.
Make graph of who has brothers, sisters, or no siblings. Counting and comparing results.
